Urgent care vs. emergency care

If you have a severe or life-threatening illness, major trauma, or injury such as chest pain, severe abdominal pain, head trauma, loss of consciousness, or uncontrolled bleeding, call 911 or visit the nearest emergency room immediately. Know where to go for care so you can get the kind of treatment you need at the best possible value.

Urgent care

Urgent care clinics offer extended and weekend hours for more immediate, after-hours care needs. Visit an urgent care clinic for non-life-threatening illnesses and injuries such as:

  • Fevers, colds, earaches, minor infections, & flu
  • Sprains, strains, & minor broken bones
  • Small cuts, bruises, or burns

Emergency care

Choose an emergency room or call 911 for life-threatening illnesses, major trauma, or injuries such as:

  • Chest pain
  • Severe abdominal pain
