Cravings for sweets have nothing to do with a cocoa imbalance or a sugar deficit. So why do we crave chocolate and other sweets? Because certain foods trigger the release of mood-boosting substances in the brain. Once people experience these pleasurable sensations, they tend to want more of them. A lot more. The next time you have a craving, take a moment and consider replacing that sugary or fatty treat with a walk, deep breathing, or meditation.
