Questions to Ask Yourself Before Going Out During COVID-19
There can be a lot of confusion on how safe you are from contracting COVID whenever you leave your home. You are safest at home but if you do venture out make sure to ask yourself these questions to protect yourself and others in your community.
Am I feeling ill?
Before you decided to venture out of your home, whether it be for groceries or getting dinner, you should check yourself for symptoms. The most common symptoms of COVID-19 include a fever, cough, and shortness of breath with a wider range of other symptoms possible. If you answer “yes” to any of these, you should stay home and schedule a virtual visit with your AFM provider. Your provider will help you to determine the best plan of care for you.
Should I bring a mask or cloth face covering?
Governor Polis issued a statewide mask mandate on July 16, 2020, requiring all individuals ten years and older to wear a mask when entering, remaining in or moving within public indoor spaces. This means that you will likely need a mask whenever you leave your home. If you are participating in outdoor activities, it is not required to wear a mask when outdoors.
Will I be able to maintain social distancing?
Northern Colorado has quickly responded to the COVID-19 pandemic. As a result, businesses have had to implement new practices and policies to encourage social distancing. What are the orders in my city? How are businesses functioning?
Make sure to check ahead before going to your favorite restaurant or when going shopping. Many businesses have had to change when they are open, how many customers can be in their space at a time, added reservations, and more. Calling ahead to be prepared is the best way to make sure you do not get sick or in trouble.
Am I at risk of getting severely ill?
If you have any chronic pre-existing conditions or are over the age of 65, you are more likely to develop complications as a result of the COVID-19 infection.
Do I need to go??
It can be a tough decision but if you don’t feel where you are going is essential, try to skip it. If you feel it is essential, make sure to continue being aware of washing your hands, wearing your mask, and social distancing.
