Tom Harms, MD
Dr. Harms treats all patients the same way he would his own family members.
Dr. Harms grew up in east-central Illinois in a family that embraces education. Dr. Harms attended the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign where he completed his undergraduate degree in Biology. He then continued on to the University of Illinois College of Medicine in Chicago, pursuing a non-traditional primary care emphasis at the Basic Medical Sciences and Clinical Training Campuses. It was here that Dr. Harms developed his budding interest in Emergency Medicine. He then pursued his Residency in Emergency Medicine at Wright State University School of Medicine in Dayton, Ohio.
After completing his residency, Dr. Harms moved west to Greeley where he worked in the Emergency Department at the North Colorado Medical Center. After 20 years at NCMC, Dr. Harms transitioned into Urgent Care, where he has served the northern Colorado community for the last 15 years.
Dr. Harms has been practicing medicine since 1981.
Dr. Harms pays special attention to his patients being able to understand the medical aspect of their care as fully as possible. He will make sure that the patient is provided guidance for their next steps of the care, ensuring coordination with the patient’s primary care provider and other AFM services.
“My passion is being able to provide personal and focused care to connect with the episodic patient and defuse the urgent/crisis situation”
Dr. Harms’s shoes were made for walking. He goals himself to walk 4-5 miles, several days a week. He enjoys both the mental and physical components of taking time to take care of his body and wellness, plus the peace and quiet offered while walking several miles is nice too.
Dr. Harms enjoys a wide variety of patients that practicing Urgent Care allows him to interact with.
On most of his days off, you can find Dr. Harms walking a golf course looking to improve his game. Dr. Harms and his wife, who is from New Zealand, love to travel on their off time. His favorite destinations are New Zealand and Hawaii!
