Margarite Bechis, MD

Dr. Margarite Bechis has a goal to foster health and happiness in her patients. Her different interests and creativity make her the clinician she is today. Dr. Bechis looks forward to working with her patients to build a foundation of hope and trust.

Dr. Bechis attended the University of New Hampshire for her undergraduate degree, majoring in psychology and minoring in linguistics, Modern Greek, and Ballet. Knowing she would one day go into medicine, she pursued a master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling and Behavioral Medicine at Boston University School of Medicine. Dr. Bechis completed internships in forensic psychology and eating disorders treatment. Afterward, she completed a post-baccalaureate program at the University of Virginia and her medical studies at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. Dr. Bechis went on to complete her residency in Family Medicine at North Colorado Family Medicine Residency.

She believes in the healing nature of a non-judgemental, empathic, kind-hearted conversation and continually works to be a better physician for her patients by reading, attending seminars, and reflecting on past visits.

Dr. Bechis works both her mind and body to stay well. She reads often and commutes to work by bike whenever possible. She enjoys playing disc golf with her partner, who is a professional disc golf player. She also enjoys skiing.

Professionally:

Dr. Bechis is passionate about providing comprehensive prenatal and OB care, treating chronic medical conditions, such as hypertension and diabetes, and providing nonjudgemental and up-to-date mental health care, and all that it entails.

Personally:

Dr. Bechis studied Ballet pre-professionally until age 17 under American Ballet Theatre prima ballerina Susan Jaffe. She continues to dance and is currently a principal Ballet dancer with the Colorado Dance Collective, a non-profit adult company based in Northern Colorado. She loves to read historical non-fiction, journal, and listen to music. Family is very important to Dr. Bechis and she often spends her time off visiting them.
