Joe Kauffman earned a bachelor’s degree in biology from the University of Central Florida. He then obtained a Chiropractic degree from Life University in Atlanta.

After 10 years in practice, Joe wanted to offer more to the patients he cared for. He decided on nursing, and completed his bachelor’s degree in nursing at Georgia State University.

He worked in a surgical/trauma ICU, and then as a home health nurse. It was there that he found his passion for senior care.

Joe continued his education and obtained a master’s degree in nursing from the University of Cincinnati and he also holds an Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner certification.

Joe takes a holistic approach to his patient’s care. He recognizes that people are made up of many parts: genetics, environment, relationships, stressors and lifestyle, among many other elements.

“Keeping the whole person in consideration allows for a more personalized and comprehensive approach to health and wellness.” -Joe Kauffman

Joe tries to practice what he encourages his patients to do each day.

“I try to be mindful of nutrition, exercise and keep a strong focus on prioritizing my quality of life. I prioritize self- care which always includes outdoor time, family time and rest when needed.” -Joe Kauffman

Professionally:
During his time as a home health care nurse, Joe found his passion for geriatric care.

Because of his whole person approach, Joe’s interests also include nutrition, exercise, chronic inflammation and its role in illness. He is also passionate about research and fostering an evidence-based approach to patient care.

Personally:
Joe and his family came to Colorado in search of outdoor adventure, and it certainly has not disappointed. They spend their time hiking, biking, camping, boating, paddle boarding and skiing, but are always looking to develop new Colorado hobbies every year!
