Morgan Swinehart, PA Has an Appetite for Adventure
If physician assistant Morgan Swinehart could share one piece of advice with her patients, it would be this: “Live the life that makes you most grounded and well-rounded…mind, body, and soul.” In her own life, that means nourishing her cravings for constant adventure, worldwide travel, and (perhaps most importantly) fantastic foods.
“I love food!” Morgan says emphatically. “I love that delicious food can be the source of the best nutrients in your body, that it’s a wonderful de-stressor, and that it brings people together,” she smiles. “I mean, some of the best things I have eaten have been around the best people.”
Like any true foodie, Morgan is always on the lookout for interesting ingredients and fresh flavors—searching the globe (quite literally) for healthy and tasty culinary creations. “I love anything new and exciting,” she says. “I’m definitely passionate about traveling, pushing the limits of exploration, and coming across new foods in my travels.”
On one of her many overseas food forays, Morgan experienced the sights, sounds, and sensations of the world-famous Spice Market in Istanbul. “It was awesome learning about all of the spices and discovering their incredible health benefits,” she shares excitedly. “They all taste amazing and yet they’re so good for you!”
From exotic spices and fresh-squeezed pomegranate juice in Istanbul to squid ink pasta in Rome and homemade potato salad in Germany, Morgan has certainly developed a distinguished taste for other cultures—continually getting out of her comfort zone to expand both her palate and her personal perspective.
“I love that delicious food can be the source of the best nutrients in your body, that it’s a wonderful de-stressor, and that it brings people together. I mean, some of the best things I have eaten have been around the best people.”
And with her insatiable need for adventure and variety, plus an ever-present hunger for helping others, it’s not surprising that Morgan ended up in the healthcare field and, more specifically, in the diverse and dynamic world of family medicine. “There is not a single day that I don’t learn something new,” she laughs. “It’s wonderful and scary all at the same time. But the more I get out, travel, and experience new things, the better I can be open to every patient and truly help guide them.” As an urgent care provider with Associates in Family Medicine, Morgan enjoys showing a variety of patients healthy and natural options, educating them on what they can do to feel better, and urging them to pursue the things that make life worthwhile.
“Patients need to have excitement in their lives to really experience health and wellbeing,” she shares. “I try to lead by example, going after my passions for eating wholesome foods, traveling, and saying ‘yes’ more often than I say ‘no.’” She continues, “After all, if I’m going to encourage patients to live fully, I have to live fully, too.”
When Morgan isn’t working with patients, traveling the world, or exploring international cuisine, you can find her enjoying the local food and brewery scene with her boyfriend, Matt, and two dogs, Mica and Clyde. Or, you might spot her perusing food and travel books in search of her next adventure. “Matt and I are actually planning a month-long trip to Japan and India next year,” she says with a grin. “We might come back ready for something a little less exotic by the end of our trip, but it’s going to be epic!”
