Saying goodbye is never easy… especially when it means bidding farewell to such a sincere, steadfast, invaluable member of our team.
Dr. Steven Tippin joined Associates in Family Medicine in 1982, and in the words of Dr. James Sprowell, “He has been a guiding light for our medical group throughout his entire career.” After more than three decades of dedicated service to AFM, his patients, and the greater Northern Colorado community, Dr. Tippin has decided to retire.
A few notes about a great doctor, and a great man
After earning his medical degree from the University Of Kansas School Of Medicine and completing his residency in Phoenix, Dr. Tippin worked on a Navajo reservation in Northern Arizona until 1982. That’s when a small magazine ad for a doctor in Northern Colorado brought him to good-old Fort Collins – the place he, his wife, Nancy, and their two daughters would come to call home.
As a long-time provider at AFM, Dr. Tippin has built bonds with both patients and colleagues that span generations – touching countless lives and becoming an integral part of the Northern Colorado community. He has become well known not just for his focus on patients’ medical needs, but also for his meaningful development of personal and family relationships.
“I have personally had the pleasure of working with Dr. Tippin for the past 24 years,” shares Dr. Sprowell, “and he is truly someone we will never be able to ‘replace.’”
While his patients and coworkers are sad to see him go, we’re also incredibly grateful for Dr. Tippin’s many years of wholehearted service at AFM. And we wish him the absolute best as he embarks on the next adventure.
Thank you for everything, Dr. Tippin!
Remembering and reminiscing… kind works from colleagues and patients
“He is such a caring man.”
“He is extremely real, with a great bedside manner that makes him completely easy to talk to.”
“Tip always sees the positive and is always optimistic. He’s calm and collected… has a wicked sense of humor… doesn’t make waves. But when he has an opinion, you should listen… Wise man, good friend, honored to work with him all these years.”
“I never felt rushed talking to him, as though he had his hand on the door knob.”
“Where do I start?… His unique and infectious laugh. His constant positive attitude and smile. The time he ran over Dr. Nevrivy’s Herbie Husker mascot with his car. His compassion for his patients and their devotion to him. (One of his patients actually flies down to FC from Montana just to keep her appointments with him.) His devotion and commitment to AFM.”
“He’s personable, he engages you in conversation, and he remembers details about your family and life situation.”
“At least once per week, there is a healthy young man I see walking his dog around the Miramont Subdivision. He is out getting fresh air, exercising, and spending some quality time with his pooch. Always out smiling, walking, and being a great example in the community. Thanks, Dr. Tippin!”
“He has such a great working relationship with his RN and together they really put patients at ease.”
“He’s so thorough… never in a hurry. He explains everything, listens, and answers all of your questions.”
